Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100
at No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album,
which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’
Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused on the
production side of her new songs.
‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really
important to me making my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.
‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply
personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’
She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009 album, The Fame
Monster.
However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going
too somber with her sound.
‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and meant
to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free of your worries at home or walking through life,’ she insisted.

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.
Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate to the

On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one
of her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet,
Die With a Smile.
The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No.
1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.
It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker: Folie à Deux.
The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as Lee Quinzel
(Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October
4 release and flopped at the box office.
Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has

of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now keen to quickly push out other projects to help distract from the furor over the film,
insiders claim.
Todd Phillips‘ sequel was officially released in theaters on October 4,
but despite expectations, it bombed, raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore
in comic book movie history.
Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for
her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker –
a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing ovation it received at
the Venice Film Festival last month.
‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,

Joker: Folie à Deux has flopped at the box office, with the psychological musical thriller also landing
the lowest CinemaScore for a comic book movie
Gaga, real name is Stefani Germanotta, is
hoping the Joker 2 flop will just be a small blip
in her career, after the film received a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic
book movie.
Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this
year and also received terrible reviews — holds the higher score of C+.
Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release in 2019 and eventually took a little over
$1 billion in the global box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70
million. However, the budget more than doubled
to around $200 million for Folie À Deux.
The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last
month, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.
It had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number drastically
dropped amid mixed reviews before release.
Audiences have since shared their opinions on the sequel,
which features multiple musical sequences.
‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this,’ wrote one on X. ‘What happened to the script?’
Another user added: ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’

continued. ‘I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’
Another user said: ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the
first film’s fandom and the musical elements were a lot of
fun.’

Not just in the old-fashioned bar, where the Wainwright Gold is well kept
and a huge leather sofa sits before a blazing wood burner; or in the dining room, solid and comfortable,
with its old beams, well-trodden wooden floors and tables unadorned with cloths; it’s in the menu, too, mainly British with a
Gallic burr, that makes full use of the magnificent local Lake District larder.

and squeak: ‘pure Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis’, is Tom’s
verdict
We’re here with Peter Gott, that great Cumbrian hero, and
the man behind Sillfield Farm, who has invited me up to
cook at the Westmorland County Show; also chef Phil Vickery, who certainty knows his alliums;
and the force of nature that is Lorraine Stanton,
something of a legend around these parts. But first dinner,
and a sublime twice-baked Mrs Kirkham’s cheese soufflé, the texture as light as a sigh, the
flavour profoundly, lasciviously rich. Mrs Kirkham’s, now made by her son Graham, is one of the
world’s great cheeses, and this is a soufflé of quiet majesty.
A mushroom soup is equally splendid, managing to be both light and gutsy, while Stornoway
black pudding with bubble and squeak and a deep-fried
egg is pure Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis.
There’s a fundamental generosity here, matched by assured technical precision. Duck à l’orange sees a
plump breast cooked rare, the skin crisp, the sauce just
the right side of bitter. It comes with a fat potato fondant and cabbage spiked with
shards of smoked bacon. I eat rump of lamb, four vast just-pink
slices, drenched in the stickiest, most gloriously intense
of gravies; by its side, a tiny shepherd’s pie, one bite of
pure ovine brilliance.
Puddings are every bit as fine: a lemon tart, beautifully sharp, with
damson sorbet (this part of the Lake District is famed for its damsons); along with a banana soufflé, this time the classic version but ethereal, served with vanilla
ice cream and a pot of sticky-toffee sauce to pour deep into
its molten centre. This is good old-fashioned food, immaculately done, in the sort of pub designed for
lingering. It’s getting late now, and we’ve an early start.
But first, another bottle of wine. Dinners like this are
too rare to be rushed.

I was just to let you know I’ve got a bug, my throat’s
a bit sore, my nose is bunged up, just letting you know in case you want to wear a helmet.’
The pair have been preparing to dance a salsa on ‘Strictly’ this weekend (12-13.10.24) and during an appearance on spin-off show ‘It Takes
Two’ this week, Chris revealed they are both covered in bruises
because the dance involves a lot of lifts.
He said: ‘It’s been intense. There has been more lifts in it than Canary Wharf!
There is tricks and lifts and we are both covered in bruises …
She’s [Dianne] had to use make-up to cover up all over her legs so it doesn’t look like I’ve been beating her up …
It has been full-on.’
It comes just after Nick revealed a major health update in regards to his future on Strictly on Wednesday.
He shared an update with fans both on his Instagram
account and during an appearance on It Takes Two
alongside Luba.
In the Instagram video, he told fans: ‘So I’m behind the scenes at It Takes Two and the
good news today is that the physios have cleared me to train tomorrow.
It comes just after Nick revealed a major health update
in regards to his future on Strictly on Wednesday
‘That’s not an all clear for Saturday yet. I have to see how I get on tomorrow and
then a decision will be made on Friday.
‘So, obviously we’ll update you as we go along. But
I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you for all the well wishes
that I’ve received and encouragement from everybody.
And I’m hopeful that I will be dancing on Saturday.’
Then, being interviewed by Janette Manrara during the BBC dance competition’s spin-off show It Takes Two, Nick went into detail
about what happened on Friday.

He explained: ‘We’d had a great week learning the dance and we were doing the camera tech rehearsals where the cameras get to see how the dance works
and everything.
‘Very last step of the dance I was late getting to where I should and
leapt to the position and my one leg stayed still and the rest of me went through.
‘Had a bit of a collapse and realised it wasn’t in a good position.
I hurt my knee basically.’
On the bright side, he added: ‘Each day gets a little bit better.
On Friday, it looked pretty bad to be honest. Saturday was not so good but I
got a scan and so we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.
‘Monday was a little bit stronger and today I got the see the physios and
I’ve had help from all the rehab and physio’s and doctors
and they have given me clearance to try and dance tomorrow to
train.
In the Instagram video, he told fans: ‘So I’m behind the scenes at It Takes Two and the good news
today is that the physios have cleared me to train tomorrow’
The duo confirmed that a final decision will be made on Friday,
and Luba told Janette: ‘Tomorrow we will try and we will go gentle and see what we can do and what we
can’t and then adjust it’
‘If I train tomorrow then it might not necessarily be the end of
it. We will see how I do tomorrow and that is all we can say at the moment.’
The duo confirmed that a final decision will be made on Friday, and Luba told Janette: ‘Tomorrow we will try and we will go gentle and see what we can do
and what we can’t and then adjust it.
‘We will take it step-by-step and see what is comfortable and
maybe what is feeling uncomfortable. We will create it together.’

He wrote on X: ‘Gutted not to be out there with everyone tonight
on the dance floor, but still suited up and cheering them on from
the sofa!’

here. In rehearsals, Nick sustained an injury and is not able
to perform tonight’.
Claudia added: ‘As per the rules of the competition, he will
receive a bye into next week’s show.’
Claudia also sent her love to Nick on behalf of the whole team and wished
him a ‘speedy recovery’, to which she was met with a round
of applause.
Nick was also flooded with well-wishes on his social media.
with fans rushing to send him get well soon messages.
Elsewhere, the BBC has vowed to tackle ‘abusive behaviour’ after the Amanda Abbington Strictly bullying scandal.
Amanda’s claims earlier this year threw the broadcaster’s flagship show into crisis, forcing it to launch a probe
to limit the damage.

about his behaviour
Now, BBC Chair Samir Shah said: ‘I cannot emphasise enough that I am fully committed to tackling inappropriate or abusive behaviour.
‘For most of us it is a joy to work for the BBC and that should be the case for everyone.
‘Nobody working in the BBC should ever feel fear or worry
while working here.
‘What is clear to me is that we must ensure the BBC is a safe,
secure and welcoming workplace for everyone.’
A six-month probe into the star, who is now performing
on the Italian version of the show, came to an end on Monday, with Giovanni saying that he hopes to put an ‘extremely difficult’ year behind him.

movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private luxury first exploded into the
public eye back in 2007.
Back then, the fact that Qantas spent hundreds of thousands of dollars
wining and dining the nation’s political elite
in ultra-exclusive VIP lounges was relatively unknown.
It was a time before Alan Joyce’s tenure as the CEO of Qantas had even started, when he
was boss of the comparatively lowly budget airline, Jetstar.
And unlike Anthony Albanese’s current slide in the polls leading
up to an election in next year, the prospects back in 2007 were
rosy for Labor.
The election that was looming was the ‘Kevin 07’ landslide that would see
Kevin Rudd become prime minister and John Howard lose his own seat.
The issue which blew open the ‘guilty secret’ of the Chairman’s
Lounge then wasn’t about a prime minister’s privileges, although John Howard and Kevin Rudd were certainly both members during their
terms as PM.
But when broadcaster Steve Price – himself a long time
Chairman’s Lounge member – revealed a politically charged remark made within the
club’s hallowed walls, the cat was out of the bag.
The political revelation – a comment by ex-rock star turned senator
Peter Garrett that Labor would change the policies it campaigned on if it won government – did not
deter his party from romping in on election day.
In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge membership and that of his ex-wife
Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring down the prime minister.
The exclusive Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (above) has been a well-kept
secret for years, but it exploded into the public conscience in 2007 as the result of a political furore

Lounge member since 2002 during a row before
the 2007 election won by Kevin Rudd which let the cat out of the
bag about the VIP club
The existence of the lounge was so little known back in 2007 that in defending his disclosure of Garrett’s remark, Steve Price had to explain what
the private enclave actually was.
In a first person piece he wrote: ‘The Chairman’s Lounge is a separate frequent flyers lounge away from the crowded normal Qantas Club.
‘As its name implies, the people given access to it are approved by the Qantas chairman, Margaret Jackson.
‘I have been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002.’
In his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins was also a member of lounge.
Wilkins had also been inside at the time and was his only witness to the
remark Price said Garrett had made.
Other prominent media figures, such as 60 Minutes reporters, actors and performers, and well-known writers and
sports people are said to be among the lounge’s exclusive membership
of around 6000.
Price went on to defend himself for reporting what some claimed was a confidential conversation in a private place, but which exposed
him to criticism over his own membership for allegedly promoting Qantas on his
radio show.

‘Why on earth is Qantas giving a controversial shock jock membership
of its Chairman’s Lounge, which is supposedly to enable our elite politicians and business leaders some privacy from the hoi
polloi?’ demanded Crikey reporter Stephen Mayne at the time.
‘The Chairman’s Lounge is meant to be all about
discretion and confidentiality,’ he said, accusing Price of breaking
‘a confidence’.
The following year, before he was succeeded as Qantas CEO
by Alan Joyce, Geoff Dixon was the sole gatekeeper of entry
into the club’s hushed confines.
Qantas Chairman’s Lounge membership was ‘so exclusive that
you have to be personally invited by the airline’s chieftain’, Nine newspapers reported in 2008.
‘A marvellous benefit of lounge membership is that the mega rich and powerful avoid
having to mingle with the riffraff who will
be travelling cattle class.
‘Having said that, members of the ultra-exclusive
club have included Pauline Hanson.
‘Another lounge member is Brad Cooper, who is currently enjoying a prolonged exposure to
cattle-class in Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.’ (Cooper was the former HIH insurance
executive jailed for eight years on fraud and bribery offences).

6000 Australians including politicians from both
sides, senior public servants, TV stars and actors

The report noted that politicians declaring membership of the lounge ‘which most of
their spouses got too’ in their pecuniary interests that year included Liberal MPs
of the day, Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin and Andrew Southcott.
Labor MPs with lounge privileges included Tanya Plibersek, Bob McMullan,
and Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared a bottle of Grange
hermitage as a gift from Qantas, as did Liberal,
Christopher Pyne.
Asked if all MPs got the captain’s pick from Geoff Dixon,
the airline’s spokesperson told Nine: ‘We like to
retain a bit of mystery. Membership is by invitation only and it is reviewed periodically.’
Fast forward to today, and nearly every single federal politician in the country has
accepted free membership of the controversial, invitation-only lounge with one even describing it as an ‘entitlement’.
Qantas and the Albanese government recently denied the ‘very, very high-end perk’
gives the airline a disproportionate level of influence
over the country’s politicians.
They were commenting ahead of the launch of the new book The
Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe
Aston, which has stirred up the controversy.
A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers – in both
Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives and the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to
the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.
Mr Albanese has defended himself by saying he declared all his benefits in pecuniary interest statements.
At a press conference this week, he repeated that all of his upgrades ‘have been declared as appropriate.
What’s appropriate is transparency.’
Apart from the PM, members include every one of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry
and all 12 assistant ministers.

leader David Littleproud and former deputy Barnaby Joyce are also among the swathes of
politicians who have disclosed they have taken up free membership
to the contentious club.
Bill Shorten is a member, Tanya Plibersek is still a member and so is Teal MP, Zali Steggall.
Last year it was reported that Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo and some of
their deputies are members of the Chairman’s Lounge despite regulating the airline.
Senior public servants in the club included Department of Prime
Minister and Cabinet secretary Glyn Davis, deputy secretaries Nadine Williams, Liz Hefren-Webb, Rachel Bacon and ambassador to
Beijing, Scott Dewar.
Other Qantas freebies bestowed on members include numerous business class flight upgrades,
model Qantas aircrafts, frequent flyer points, and tickets to sporting and
entertainment events.
Touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’,
membership to the Chairman’s Lounge is still veiled in secrecy.

a decadent selection of wines and Champagne and a discreet army

Virgin Airlines has its own version of the VIP
enclave, the ‘Beyond’ lounge.
Only a handful of federal politicians have relinquished their membership
to the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge in the wake of the furore.
The select few to take a principled stand on the issue include South Australian senator Barbara Pocock
and former Wallabies star turned ACT senator
David Pocock, along with MPs Stephen Bates, Queensland Green Elizabeth Watson-Brown, and Monique Ryan, a Teal
from Victoria.
Geoffrey Watson SC, a former counsel assisting the Independent Commission Against Corruption and a director of the Centre for Public Integrity, has implored all politicians and policymakers to
follow suit.
‘There are certain positions in life where you
cannot take Chairman’s Club membership,’ he said.
‘You’re taking public money for the job and you are supposed to represent the public.
Why not sit with them while you’re waiting for a plane?’

The Punch Bowl Inn. Not just in the old-fashioned
bar, where the Wainwright Gold is well kept and a huge leather sofa sits before a blazing wood burner; or in the dining room, solid and comfortable, with its old beams,
well-trodden wooden floors and tables unadorned with cloths; it’s in the menu, too, mainly British with a Gallic burr, that makes full use of the
magnificent local Lake District larder.

Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis’, is Tom’s verdict
We’re here with Peter Gott, that great Cumbrian hero, and the man behind Sillfield Farm,
who has invited me up to cook at the Westmorland County Show; also
chef Phil Vickery, who certainty knows his alliums; and the force of nature
that is Lorraine Stanton, something of a legend around these parts.
But first dinner, and a sublime twice-baked Mrs Kirkham’s
cheese soufflé, the texture as light as a sigh, the flavour profoundly, lasciviously
rich. Mrs Kirkham’s, now made by her son Graham,
is one of the world’s great cheeses, and this is a
soufflé of quiet majesty. A mushroom soup is equally splendid, managing to
be both light and gutsy, while Stornoway black pudding with bubble and squeak and a deep-fried
egg is pure Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis.
There’s a fundamental generosity here, matched
by assured technical precision. Duck à l’orange sees a
plump breast cooked rare, the skin crisp, the sauce just the right side
of bitter. It comes with a fat potato fondant and cabbage spiked with
shards of smoked bacon. I eat rump of lamb, four vast just-pink
slices, drenched in the stickiest, most gloriously intense of gravies; by its side,
a tiny shepherd’s pie, one bite of pure ovine brilliance.
Puddings are every bit as fine: a lemon tart, beautifully
sharp, with damson sorbet (this part of the Lake District is famed for its damsons); along with
a banana soufflé, this time the classic version but ethereal, served with vanilla ice cream and a pot of sticky-toffee sauce to pour deep
into its molten centre. This is good old-fashioned
food, immaculately done, in the sort of pub designed
for lingering. It’s getting late now, and we’ve an early start.
But first, another bottle of wine. Dinners like this are too rare to be rushed.

1 Dic 2024US pop star Lady Gaga has taken on a track known best to Aussies as the opening theme
to the iconic comedy series Kath & Kim.
The song, originally written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley for the 1964 stage musical The Roar Of
The Greasepaint – The Smell Of The Crowd, is performed by
Gaga for her film Joker: Folie à Deux.
To most Australians, it is the bold and brassy version sung
by Gina Riley, who also plays Kimberly Diane ‘Kim’ Craig (née Day) in the
legendary comedy.
Before being immortalised in to the fabric of Australian pop culture, thanks to Gina’s rendition, the song had been covered by the
likes of Shirley Bassey in 1968 and Sammy Davis Jr in 1965.
And now, the Born This Way hitmaker has taken a stab at the track
– with the results markedly different to the brassy feel of the Kath & Kim version.
Gaga’s take, which also features on her new album Harlequin, is a much more stripped

sequence to Instagram and viewers were quick to issue their
shock at the surprising cover version.

LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7 (Reuters) – Germany’s economic model is not broken but Europe’s biggest economy has lost
competitiveness over the past decade, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Monday.
“We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,”
he told journalists ahead of a Eurogroup meeting.
The German economy is expected to contract by 0.2% in 2024, an economy ministry spokesperson said on Monday, cutting the forecast from a previous projection of 0.3%
growth this year.
If realised, this would be the second consecutive year of contraction for Germany’s economy, which was the weakest among its large euro zone peers last year with a
0.3% decline in gross domestic product.
Lindner said the government was introducing
supply-side measures to try to return the economy to growth.
“After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,” Lindner said, adding that
the growth initiative was just a first step for an economic turnaround,
“but we have to build on it.”
AMBITION NEEDED
Lindner said “ambition” was needed to keep EU public finances in order, or to put them back in order
where necessary.
“I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,” Lindner said.
“What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.”
Lindner said he could not comment on the French budget plans because he had
not had the chance to talk with his French colleagues yet, but he would do so on Monday evening.
“We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,” Lindner
said.
“We must credibly reduce our deficits and our debt so that we can continue to finance ourselves well and in a stable manner.”

Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled
high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu, but no one paid them
much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two
decades back. And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to
be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair
backstreet. But a £2,000 a year membership fee
proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.
Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome
– albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze
of a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom
is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats
throbs in the background. The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.
Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent
beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters
hover in the shadows.
We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes
far better than it ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily,
glossily confident.
We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such
effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides
whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a
study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I
could. But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.
One taste is never enough.

Wallflowers get their name from their habit of growing near stone walls.
Erysimum cheiri are shortlived evergreen perennials or biennials often grown as spring bedding.
You can buy them as plug plants now and get them in the ground
to flower early next year. This is a fun activity to do with children or grandchildren. All you need is a well-weeded flower bed in a sunny spot,
